HOW WE STARTED The Sailing Aboard “Recovery” Foundation, Inc. began in the summer of 2002 as a volunteer effort by Wayne Cameron. One of Mr. Cameron’s sons had some health concerns and while staying with him at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Mr. Cameron got to meet several children and their families who were at the hospital. Some of these children had been in the hospital many months even years! After watching the daily routines of several families Mr. Cameron thought, “These people need a break! Why don’t we take them for a sail on our boat. An afternoon on the bay will help relax them and renew their spirit.” Mr. Cameron approached the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s Foundation (formerly called Grant A Wish) with his idea. Believe In Tomorrow offered the cruises to the parents involved in their other programs. We spent a wonderful summer meeting incredible children. Now with our own foundation we hope to expand and reach out to more and more children. We invite you to come aboard “Recovery”! |
